Research Analyst II, Mobile and Telecoms
Abel Nevarez specializes in mobile network infrastructure trends and activity, focusing on key areas such as telecom operator networks, carrier Wi-Fi, and mobile backhaul. In his role, he provides timely guidance and information on strategies relating to service provider network technology strategies while also monitoring developments across the mobile landscape.
Since joining the company in 2012, Abel has published a variety of insight, market tracker, and strategy reports on a broad array of subjects, including operator services in carrier Wi-Fi, mobile backhaul, and overall network infrastructure. At IMS Research, Abel was part of the consumer electronics team as well as the machine-to-machine (M2M) and connected devices group.
Abel holds an M.A. in communication studies from the University of Texas and a B.A. in communication from St Edwardâ€™s University at Austin, Texas, where he is also based.

As part of Omdia’s service provider network infrastructure team, Richard covers mobile x-haul equipment (mobile backhaul, midhaul, and fronthaul) across all technologies. Richard’s data and analysis have been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and The Economist, among many other publications. He has spoken at numerous industry events including the Mobile World Congress, Packet Microwave Congress, and Small Cells Global Forum. Richard joined Informa (now Omdia), formerly IHS Markit, in 2019. Prior to that, Richard worked as a directing analyst at Infonetics Research in 2001 until IHS acquired it in 2015. He joined the telecom industry in 1997 as a conference director at The Phillips Group. He has a degree in English literature and cultural studies from the University of Gloucestershire.
