Lee Ratliff
Senior Principal Analyst, IoT Connectivity
Lee Ratliff is a connectivity and communications analyst responsible for directing the coverage of low-power wireless, broadband, and home networking semiconductors and technologies. His research focuses on examining what opportunities will emerge as data connectivity reaches the most isolated applications and unlocks captive value.
Before joining the company, Lee spent his career in the semiconductor industry in roles ranging from hardware and software design to product marketing and account management. At Texas Instruments, Lee specialized in connectivity technologies such as FireWire, USB, HDMI, and UWB. He has extensive knowledge in semiconductor design, fabrication, and operations; as well as in all phases of product development and in market dynamics driven by consumers and service providers.
Lee graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.

Bill Morelli
Research VP, Enterprise
As the head of the enterprise research sector, Bill manages core strategy, personnel, analysis, and commercial planning for the practice. The focus areas include AI, cloud and data centers, cybersecurity, enterprise IT, and IoT. He specializes in IoT use cases and the convergence of technology trends.
Previously at IHS Markit and IMS Research, Bill provided authoritative coverage on fast-growing and evolving markets. Over the past 15 years, he launched research on emerging technologies, including cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and IoT. He has published numerous reports on a range of subjects, including global IoT, 5G, connected devices, mobile handsets, smartphones and converged devices, and I/O technologies. Drawing from his deep knowledge and expertise in the field, Bill has provided strategic market analysis and valuable guidance for end-equipment manufacturers and component suppliers. Bill and his research have been featured in publications such as the Washington Post, Bloomberg Businessweek, and the New York Times.

Julian Watson
Julian Watson, Principal Analyst, Wholesale Telecoms
Julian joined Omdia’s enterprise networks and wholesale team in January 2021. His research focuses on wholesale telecoms market dynamics and service provider strategies.
Between August 2016 and December 2020, Julian was a member of Omdia’s IoT connectivity and platforms team. In this role, Julian maintained and developed global IoT device forecasts and undertook syndicated and custom research in areas including cellular IoT gateways, edge computing in IoT, and 5G. Prior to this, Julian managed the legacy IHS Markit telecoms operator research team, which provided syndicated and custom research on quad-play bundling, telecoms regulation, fixed broadband, and VoIP. Julian joined Omdia in 1999 and has a Bachelor of Arts in politics, parliamentary studies, and Russian from the University of Leeds in England.

Sam Lucero
Chief Analyst, IoT Services & Technologies
As part of Omdia’s Internet of Things (IoT) research program, Sam covers multiple facets of the global IoT market. Currently, he has a specific focus on analyzing software and services that support the adoption of IoT solutions.
In offering expert opinion, Sam has been widely quoted in the media, including The Economist, the Financial Times, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Prior to joining Informa (now Omdia), formerly IHS Markit, in 2012, Sam was the director of IoT research practice at ABI Research. He started his analyst career in 2001 at In-Stat, covering the semiconductor and networking equipment markets. After graduating from the University of California, San Diego, Sam spent three years working in Japan before returning to the US to earn an MBA (Hons.) from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Christian Kim
Senior Analyst, Cellular IoT
Christian Kim is a senior analyst in Omdia’s (formerly IHS Markit’s) IoT and connectivity team, responsible for covering the cellular IoT market. Before joining Omdia in 2016, Christian was a senior analyst at Conversant IP Management Corporation, a patent licensing company in Canada.
He also worked for seven years as a program manager at Chipworks Inc. (now a part of Techinsights), and as a product manager at Samsung Electronics, where he oversaw the company’s mobile handset supply chain in Canada. Christian is a chartered professional accountant (CPA Canada). He has a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering from McMaster University and earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University, both in Canada.

Yogita Kanesin
Head of Research Operations
As part of the Penang research operations team, Yogita is responsible for successful, on-time delivery of high-quality research projects that provide essential elements for syndicated research and consulting across sectors.
Previously at IHS Markit (now Omdia), Yogita was a senior analyst in the IoT connectivity team and responsible for leading IHS Markit’s coverage of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth across verticals. Yogita has been a regular speaker at conferences including IoT World Asia, IoT Asia, Telco AI Summit Asia, and TM Forum Asia and sits in the judging panel for the Asia Mobile Awards and TechXLR8 Awards. Yogita holds a Bachelor of Technology in information systems from Petronas Technology University and a Master of Science in computer science from Science University Malaysia.
