Prior to joining Omdia (formerly IHS Markit) in 2014, he worked for DisplaySearch as director of IT & FPD market research, where he covered large-area LCD applications such as monitors, mobile PCs, public displays, and digital signage. He also forecast monthly large-area LCD panel pricing. With his background in engineering, he covered the LCD technology roadmap. He has also held positions at NEC in Japan and the US. At NEC, his responsibilities included strategic planning, project management, procurement, and hardware development for notebook PCs, LCD monitors, and their LCD panels. He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Tokyo University of Science, Japan.

Jeff Lin
Senior Principal Analyst, Mobile PC
As the lead analyst for the tablet and notebook PC market at Omdia, Jeff is responsible for primary research and forecasting on mobile PCs (tablet and notebook PCs) and the emerging PC market, including gaming notebook PCs, always-connected PCs (5G notebook PCs), and wearable PCs (virtual reality/augmented reality devices).
Prior to working at Omdia, Jeff was an engineer at Chunghwa Picture Tubes, where he led TV panel development projects and promoted products. He worked at Samsung Electronics Taiwan, winning the annual best sales award while handling HP’s monitor business account, and was a procurement manager at Benq for monitor panel and TV set purchasing and panel price trend analysis. Jeff joined DisplaySearch in 2010 as a value chain analyst for the tablet, notebook PC, monitor, and public display supply chain. Jeff graduated from Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University with a degree in environmental engineering and holds an MBA from National Chengchi University in Taiwan.

Patrick Tan
Senior Research Analyst
Patrick Tan is responsible for the market research, analysis, and forecast of tablets and notebook PCs. Before joining the company, he worked in Intel Microelectronics, focusing on analog IC design and design automation. Besides that, he was involved in the automotive industry, having joined Robert Bosch under project management for car multimedia products.
Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom, and a Master of Business Administration majoring in marketing from University Sains Malaysia. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, as well as Malay, and is based in Penang, Malaysia.

Nina Rao
Research Analyst, Consumer Electronics
As part of the consumer electronics team of Omdia, Nina Rao explores converging technology trends across consumer electronics applications, working to incorporate new data sources and to strategically renew research areas.
Her research interests include emerging trends in interface adoption across the consumer electronics spectrum, including USB-C and AV, and developments in mature markets such as monitors and TVs. She provides key insights into these areas and strategic consulting for special projects. Before joining Omdia, formerly IHS Markit, in 2019, Nina worked as an investigative reporter and editor. She holds a master’s degree in environmental journalism from the University of Colorado in Colorado, the US and a bachelor’s degree in economics and French from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
