Matthew Evenson

Matthew covers the pay-TV and online video markets in Eastern Europe, tracking major companies and key developments in the region. He also has a research interest in company content strategies and has previously written reports on global streaming services, television formats, and M&A activity in the UK.
Prior to joining Omdia, Matthew worked as an analyst for Broadcast Intelligence and previously worked on scripted television productions in the UK. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in cell biology from Durham University and a master’s degree in forensic science from University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).

She has written about a range of topics, including an assessment of iTunes market share, the changing nature of the Australian online rental market, and the strategies of consumer electronics companies for online video in Europe. Irina holds a Master of Science in international management from King's College London, as well as a graduate degree in management from the Russian State University of Trade and Economics. She is fluent in Russian.

Global pay-TV subscriptions rose by 0.6% in 2021, while online video subscriptions grew 17.7%. Omdia forecasts 2 billion online video subscriptions and a further 1 billion for pay TV in 2027: the global combined total will top 3 billion.
