Tara Patel
Research Analyst, Media Delivery
Tara joined Omdia in May 2021 as part of the Media and Entertainment team, particularly looking at TV technology and home networks. She previously worked at a technology consulting company focusing on video entertainment landscapes across countries and tracking top-performing movies. Tara has a degree in international development with economics and overseas experience from the University of East Anglia. She has also worked abroad in Cambodia and India.

Thomas Thomson
Senior Analyst, Video Technology
Thomas is a senior analyst who focuses on video technology as part of Omdia’s Media & Entertainment market pillar. He delivers research projects on video packing companies, content distribution networks, and online video providers. Thomas provides expertise related to the video distribution workflow, from video ingest to distribution.
Thomas joined Omdia in August 2022. He previously worked for Enders Analysis as a TV analyst covering broadcasting, including pay-TV and audiovisual media policy. At Omdia, Thomas brings his research and analytical skills to bear on the technology providers that supply video processing and CDN solutions to content companies. He studied at the University of St Andrews, gaining a Master of Arts in history, and continued at Imperial College Business School, gaining a Master of Science in management.

Daniel Simmons
Research Director, Media Delivery
Dan heads global research on service provider set-top boxes, consumer premises equipment (CPE), content security, and user interfaces. He has extensive experience in producing custom research for all aspects of television technology, influencing the strategies of many of the sector’s largest companies.
His expertise includes a nuanced understanding of how service providers distribute content around the home, and how consumers interact with content. Dan worked previously at Mitsubishi Electric, where he designed image-processing algorithms. He is a graduate of the University of Surrey in Guildford, England, and has a Bachelor of Science in physics.

Matthew Rubin
Principal Analyst, Media Delivery
Matthew Rubin focuses on consulting research within the media delivery team, working across set-top boxes, consumer premises equipment (CPE), content security, and user interfaces. Previously, Matthew worked at IHS Markit, developing consumer TV research. He also worked at a technology consulting research firm, leading the consumer vision and professional AV equipment research.
