Sam Lucero

Chief Analyst, Quantum Computing

Sam Lucero leads Omdia’s quantum computing research program. Omdia has produced standalone quantum computing research content since 2018. Sam consolidates and extends this work into a full subscription research program, alongside Omdia’s quantum computing B2B media and events businesses.

Sam is a seasoned technology industry analyst with over 20 years’ experience helping clients assess market opportunities and optimize their competitive strategy. In offering expert opinion, Sam has been widely quoted in the media, including The Economist, the Financial Times, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Sam joined Omdia via its 2019 acquisition of IHS Markit Technology. He started his analyst career in 2001 at InStat, covering the semiconductor and networking equipment markets. After graduating from the University of California, San Diego, Sam spent three years working in Japan before returning to the US to earn an MBA (Hons.) from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Sivalingam Muniandi

Research Manager

As part of Omdia's research operation team, Sivalingam Muniandi leads the projects from the service provider, consumer, and enterprise market sectors, with a specific interest in telecom operator multi-play strategies, subscriber and revenue trends, new service rollouts, regulatory developments, telco merger and acquisition activity, and pay TV.

Prior to joining Omdia, formerly IHS Markit, Siva worked as a senior research analyst, covering telecoms and pay TV in Asia Pacific. He also worked at Maxis Berhad, Malaysia as a business analyst on the regional sales team.  During his time there, Siva was responsible for data mining, KPI and sales performance reporting, market research, competitor insights, trade management, vendor management, and compliance control.

Siva holds a Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) in multimedia systems from Wawasan Open University, Malaysia. He is currently pursuing the Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration and is based in Penang, Malaysia.  

Amni Abdul Ghapar

Senior Research Associate

Amni is a senior research associate in Omdia’s research operations team. Amni assists in providing research and analysis support for various research products in service providers and the IoT market.

In particular, she tracks telco news from third-tier countries and records SME bundles from enterprises. She also oversees the telecom IT contracts database and produces reports on IoT applications; she is also familiar with the smart cities market.

Prior to joining Omdia, formerly IHS Technology, Amni was a graduate trainee in Celcom Axiata. Amni holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Aberystwyth University, UK.

Siraj Aziz

Research Analyst

As part of Omdia's research operations team, Siraj assists in providing research and analysis support for various research products (subscription-based, ad-hoc, and consulting) in transformative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G across sectors such as retail, manufacturing, and security technology.

Prior to joining Omdia, formerly IHS Technology, Siraj worked as a research assistant at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He had brief assignments as a research intern at the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) and Securities Commission Malaysia. Previously, at legacy IHS Technology, Siraj served as a research analyst, covering the Smart Cities Project Database, Fintech Scorecard, and AI Start Up Funding Tracker, among other products.

Siraj holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Kent, UK. In October 2019, he graduated with a master’s degree in development studies from the University of Malaya.  

Kavitha Mahendran

Senior Research Associate

Kavitha provides research and analysis support for various products related to service providers and AI as part of the Research Operations team based in Penang, Malaysia.

Prior to joining Omdia, Kavitha worked as a reporting business analyst at Teleperformance Malaysia, Penang. She was responsible for data-driven analysis of employee key performance index (KPI), sales and revenue visualization, and forecasting. Besides that, Kavitha has been an active part-time tutor focusing on Excel spreadsheets and VBA automation teachings.

Kavitha holds a bachelor’s degree in financial mathematics from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Malaysia.

Yi Wei Cheah

Senior Research Associate

As part of Penang Research Operations, Yi Wei is proficient in data mining algorithms, data processing, automation, NLP, and scripting languages, including Python and UiPath, to increase data efficiency and reduce lead times for research projects.

Yi Wei joined Informa Tech in 2021 with two years of experience in data automation and worked as a Python developer. Yi Wei holds a bachelor’s degree in science (actuarial and financial mathematics) from the University of Malaya.

Saranyah Vijayan

Senior Research Associate

Saranyah is a part of the Penang Research Operations’ data and automation team. She works on automation solutions and data visualization using UiPath, Power BI, Alteryx, and R.

Saranyah has been a part of the team since 2018. She graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering (Hons.) and was later trained in big data analytics. Previously a test engineer with Standard Chartered Global Business Services, she has experience with analytics tools such as Hadoop and Teradata.

Kalai Chevali Erudia Nathan

Senior Research Manager

As part of the Penang research operations team, Kalai is responsible for automating data processes and creating data visualizations using tools such as UiPath (an RPA tool), Python, Alteryx, Power BI, and VBA for syndicated and consulting projects across sectors at Omdia.

Kalai has a background in processing data with various tools in industries such manufacturing, food and beverage, and IT, and was a data scientist at Measat Broadcast Network Systems prior to joining Omdia. A graduate from Staffordshire University, UK, Kalai holds a bachelor’s with honors in computer science with artificial intelligence.  

Aiman Syakir

Research Associate

Aiman joined the Penang Research Operation (PRO) team in 2020, supporting projects in the service provider and consumer sectors. He is gaining expertise in IoT, big data, data automation, and the Chinese economy. 

He was previously a member of the data and automation team and worked in market research for the Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC), overseeing commodity and international trade, competitor analysis, and regulatory compliance. Aiman holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration (specializing in finance) and just completed his master’s degree in economic development.
