Jeff Ong
Senior Analyst, Mobile PC & Tablet
As part of Omdia’s consumer devices team, Jeff Ong is responsible for mobile PC and tablet research. His research covers mobile PC and tablet shipments, production, technology trends, and companies’ strategies.
Jeff joined Omdia in 2020 as a research analyst in the Research Operations team in Penang, Malaysia, responsible for secondary market data research for market pillars, including consumer electronics, service provider, media and entertainment, and enterprise. Prior to joining Omdia, Jeff worked in the due diligence industry, where he led the vendor and knowledge management team. He spent four years from 2012 to 2016 at legacy IHS Technology, where he mined data and performed market analysis on consumer electronics subjects, including tablets, notebooks, mobile phones, TVs, PCs, and monitors.

Jeff Lin
Senior Principal Analyst, Mobile PC
As the lead analyst for the tablet and notebook PC market at Omdia, Jeff is responsible for primary research and forecasting on mobile PCs (tablet and notebook PCs) and the emerging PC market, including gaming notebook PCs, always-connected PCs (5G notebook PCs), and wearable PCs (virtual reality/augmented reality devices).
Prior to working at Omdia, Jeff was an engineer at Chunghwa Picture Tubes, where he led TV panel development projects and promoted products. He worked at Samsung Electronics Taiwan, winning the annual best sales award while handling HP’s monitor business account, and was a procurement manager at Benq for monitor panel and TV set purchasing and panel price trend analysis. Jeff joined DisplaySearch in 2010 as a value chain analyst for the tablet, notebook PC, monitor, and public display supply chain. Jeff graduated from Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University with a degree in environmental engineering and holds an MBA from National Chengchi University in Taiwan.

Tim Hewitt
Senior Analyst
Tim covers all aspects of the smart home ecosystem, ranging from service providers and subscription models to device markets and technical trends. His responsibilities include supporting the smart home intelligence services, which are continuously updated to reflect changes in the highly dynamic smart home industry.
The smart home industry spans a large portion of Omdia and includes security and energy management, connectivity, and the Internet of Things. To facilitate better collaboration, Tim leads the Smart Home Analyst Council, a group of experts from across Omdia covering various aspects relating to the industry.
Before joining the company, he worked at 9dot-research where he was responsible for a broad range of research activities including data analysis and insight, survey design, interviews and group discussions, and presenting actionable research findings. Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in physics and planetary science from the University of Leicester.
