Omdia’s Physical Security Technologies team visited ISC West 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada (March 28–31). This report summarizes some of the key trends and themes that vendors discussed with the analyst team.
The Analyst Team

Oliver Philippou
Research Manager, Physical Security
Oliver is responsible for the core strategy, personnel, research, analysis, and commercial planning of the physical security technologies portfolio. As an authoritative voice in the security group, he covers the significant and sensitive field of physical security, focusing on video surveillance.
Oliver joined the company in May 2011 and has authored many research projects on various physical security equipment and end user markets. He has also led custom research engagements and strategic consultancy projects for some of the world’s largest technology providers and established new syndicated research on emerging and transformative technologies. His numerous reports contain timely updates and thoughtful guidance on current hot-button subjects, such as video surveillance, the role of AI in physical security, and cloud video surveillance. Oliver holds a master’s degree in program and project management from the University of Warwick in England.

Amir Boubaker
Senior Analyst, Physical Security
Amir Boubaker is responsible for research and analysis across Omdia’s physical security technologies portfolio. As a senior analyst, Amir covers a range of fields across physical security, including video surveillance and analytics, intruder alarms and monitoring services, and fire detection and suppression.
Amir joined the company in November 2021 and is involved in a range of research and custom projects, focusing on physical security equipment. Amir has previously held positions covering the role of emerging technologies across the UK defense sector for GlobalData. Amir holds a master’s degree in physics from the University of Swansea.

Scott Foley
Senior Analyst, Physical Security
Scott is responsible for research and analysis across Omdia's physical security technology portfolio. As a senior analyst and veteran of the security industry, with 7 years manufacturing side, Scott covers a wide range including security trends and market developments. Specializing in video surveillance, analytics, and the Americas business areas.
Based in Boston MA, Scott joined the company in August 2022 and is involved in a range of research and custom projects. Prior to Omdia Scott held positions within Axis Communications in strategy and market intelligence focusing on the Americas markets, and is a certified Competitive Intelligence Professional II. Scott holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of York, UK.

Bryan Montany
Senior Research Analyst, Physical Security
Bryan is a senior analyst with Omdia’s physical security group and is responsible for maintaining and updating the content of the Access Control Intelligence Service. Over the past five years, Bryan has emerged as a leading voice in identifying new trends and market developments impacting market demand for physical electronic access control equipment and services.
Bryan began his career as an analyst in 2017 after he transitioned from a previous background as an attorney. In addition to his annual coverage of the access control market, he has previously written syndicated reports covering building automation equipment, HVAC equipment, physical identity and access management (PIAM) solutions, access control as a service (ACaaS) solutions, biometrics, and smart buildings. Bryan is also a leading resource for custom research engagements and consultancy projects with access control and building automation projects for several of the world’s most prominent vendors. He is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, in the US.
