Alex West
Senior Principal Analyst, Industrial IoT
Alex West is a Senior Principal Analyst for the manufacturing technology group. He leads its coverage of IIoT, including IIoT readiness, industrial edge computing, the evolution of industrial automation, autonomous operations, and predictive maintenance. His background is in discrete and process automation, as well as machinery markets.
Over his twenty years as an analyst, he has helped customers to understand the potential of the technology markets and perform voice of the customer analyses. He has provided analyses of competitive environments, business models, technology trends, and end-user requirements. He has consulted on the best practices for implementing IIoT, supported go-to-market strategies, and created market positioning content. He is a regular keynote speaker at industry events, tradeshows, and conferences worldwide. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in physics from the University of Bath, England and is based in Wellingborough, UK.

Joanne Goh
Research Manager, Manufacturing Technology
Joanne is a research manager in Omdia’s manufacturing technology team, covering the Electric Motor System and Discrete, Process, and Capital Equipment research portfolios. She previously worked as the lead analyst for Omdia’s low-voltage motor drives intelligence service. Joanne has also done extensive research on motor-driven equipment and the motors and drives market across all vertical applications.
Joanne joined Omdia (formerly IHS Markit) in 2015. Previously, she was an equipment/process engineer in a semiconductor company, where she was involved in cross-functional team projects to drive improvements in yield and process productivity.

Anna Ahrens
Senior Analyst, Manufacturing Technology
As a member of the Industrial IoT, software & communications team, Anna focuses on industrial communications and industrial edge networking components. She examines industrial communications standards and their implementation in process and discrete manufacturing. Anna also covers trends in industrial networking components such as IIoT gateways, routers, switches, and more.
Anna joined Omdia in January 2019 with more than 10 years of experience in the electronic components industry, including roles in forecasting, market intelligence, business development, and product management for display devices. Previously, she worked at Samsung Semiconductors Europe. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. Anna is based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and is fluent in German, English, and Russian.

Jonas Vestlund
Director, Technology Consulting
Jonas Vestlund is the subject matter expert (SME) for computer vision within the Transformative Technologies team. A key objective of his is to provide guidance on major trends and to offer strategic support to clients with an interest in the area.
Jonas also manages the Manufacturing Technology consulting practice, offering over 15 years of research and consulting experience with an extensive focus on corporate strategy. His specific areas of interest include market entry and development, competitive strategy, operational excellence, smart manufacturing, and corporate strategy. With clients, he supports strategic planning, business development, and customer relationships.
Jonas has led consulting projects covering both manufacturing and medical technologies, addressing trends in transformative technologies within deep-learning-based machine vision, 3D printing, and robotics. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior consultant and project manager with Frost & Sullivan’s industrial automation and electronics practice. He was also a lead analyst at various industrial corporations, including Air Products, the Linde Group, and Sandvik.
Jonas has a Master of Science degree in business administration from Karlstad University in Sweden. He is based in the United Kingdom.

Peter Taylor
Research Manager, Manufacturing Technology
Peter is a research manager in Omdia’s manufacturing technology team. He previously worked as lead analyst on several research areas, including LV drives and LV MCCs.
Prior to joining Omdia, Peter worked in a variety of project management roles within the manufacturing sector, most notably at General Electric. Peter holds a BA (honors) in business management from the University of Derby. He is based in the UK.

Baldesh Singh
Research Analyst, Manufacturing Technology
Baldesh is part of Omdia’s manufacturing technology team, leading the Machinery Production Market Viewpoint Service. His research focuses on machinery sectors including material handling, packaging tools, and food and beverage machinery, combining Omdia’s industrial expertise with macroeconomic and supply chain analysis to understand key trends affecting developments in the machinery market. He is also passionate about sustainability initiatives driving the future of the manufacturing industry.
Baldesh joined Omdia (formerly IHS Markit) in 2018. Prior to that, he was an analyst at Contact Energy, one of New Zealand’s major energy companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and international business from the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

Anthony Mukoro
Senior Analyst, Government and Manufacturing
As part of Omdia’s Industrial IoT, software and communications service area, Anthony focuses on industrial software. He provides unique and valuable research and consulting about manufacturing software (manufacturing execution systems, product lifecycle management, digital twin, and IT/OT convergence) through thought leadership.
Prior to joining Omdia in 2021, Anthony worked for five years as a software consultant. He delivered solutions, modules, and device control installations using MES software in the foods industry internationally. Based in London, Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in international business management from the London Metropolitan University.
Alexander Bourgeois
Senior Analyst, AI and Digital Transformation
As a member of the applied intelligence & IIOT group, Alexander focuses on digital transformation covering industrial and process automation. Alexander’s market intelligence focus is in examining the implementation of enterprise Artificial Intelligence use cases and various emerging trends within the broad scope of digitalization.
He joined Informa Tech in September 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in discrete and process industries, including roles in project management and market intelligence in onsite industrial manufacturing. He holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with a focus on systems engineering from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Alexander is based in Munich, Germany.

Katelyn Galer
Senior Analyst
As part of Omdia’s Industrial IoT, Software, and Communications team, Katelyn focuses on industrial communications and industrial edge networking components. She covers trends in industrial networking components (e.g., IIoT gateways, routers, switches) and examines industrial communications standards and their implementation in manufacturing.
Prior to joining Omdia in 2023, Katelyn worked as an engineer for over 15 years, most recently in electro-mechanical instrumentation manufacturing. Katelyn has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Zara Fennell
Senior Analyst, Manufacturing Technology
As part of Omdia’s Manufacturing Technology team, Zara is a senior analyst focusing on Electric Motor Systems. She has a specific research interest in gearboxes and geared motors on a global scale.
Prior to joining Omdia in 2022, Zara provided market insights to the superyacht industry. She has also previously worked for the Financial Times, providing global and regional market analyses on foreign direct investment trends. Zara is based in London, UK.

Daisuke Muto
Senior Analyst, Manufacturing Technology
Daisuke works as a market research analyst in the Manufacturing Technology group based in Tokyo, Japan. He covers the industrial markets related to control and visualization, including both world and Japanese markets for industrial products such as programmable logic controllers and I/O modules. He is also conducting the industrial user surveys in the Japanese market.
Prior to joining Omdia, Daisuke worked in US, European, and Japanese semiconductor companies as a marketing and sales specialist for the industrial, automotive, and consumer spaces.
