Dashboard User Guide
The Omdia Dashboard is designed to be your personalised gateway into the research that you own (including extensive free research), and will allow you to explore beyond your subscription to discover other relevant aspects of Omdia's broad Technology portfolio.
This page will help explain the features available on the dashboard and how it can be optimised to best suit your interests and needs.
Introduction
Welcome to the Omdia dashboard help page!
The video to the right and contents below will help you to understand and optimise your dashboard, making your experiences with Omdia's research as efficient and valuable as possible.
The dashboard consists of various configurable Modules to help you find and discover the content you need. The modules on the left side are themed towards content you can access in full (including an extensive range of complimentary research), and the modules on the right side support discovery of the wider Omdia portfolio and services.
About the Modules
My Research - Overview
The My Research module helps users navigate and discover research that can be access in full. For clients this will include all research reports and datasets contained in your products. For non-clients this can be used to navigate through Omdia's complimentary research.
The Keyword search box allows you to navigate by your chosen Search Term. Results are ordered by Latest (most recently published) - to view by relevance click the 'View All' link and adjust the sort order from that page.
The number of results shown on the dashboard can be adjusted between 5, 10 or 20. To expand your results outside of your current Omdia entitlements and access further search features, click 'View All' in the top left to be taken to the corresponding Search Results page.
My Research - Search Tips
Use the Filters menu to drill down on your search results - you can filter the research by Content Type, Date, Geography, Analyst/Author, or Service/Product Area.
Additionally, there is a toggle available in the top left which allow you to apply your Search Term (e.g. 5G infrastructure) to just show publications where the term is specifically mentioned in the title. Otherwise, default behaviour is to show publications where the term is contained in the full report or dataset.
My Analysts
This feature allows you to follow your favourite analyst(s), receiving a feed of all their latest publications.
Select the analyst(s) you would like to follow from the Filter menu, or alternatively from the analyst's bio page. Their content will then automatically feed into the dashboard module and show their latest research when you return in future.
When selecting analysts from the Dashboard Filter, analysts will appear in the window with the option to 'Follow' them. If you do not select to follow, the analyst will ultimately disappear from your feed (although they will remain for some time stored in your cache).
Email Alerts are also possible if you want to be notified directly when the analyst(s) you follow have published new research. When selecting an analyst to Follow, there will be a check box available to set up the alert, by default they will be sent weekly (consolidated with other Email Alerts you might have). To edit the frequency of your emails (daily, weekly or monthly are available), go to your Saved Search menu.
My Saved Searches
This module lists your (up to) five most recently created Saved Searches. If you have more than five (the bracketed number in the top right of the module displays how many in total you have set up) then to see or edit the full list click 'View all' on the top right, alternatively navigate via the 'My Account' menu in the Omdia header.
What are Saved Searches?
The Omdia site makes it possible for you to save any search you perform, which can be convenient when there are content criteria you repeatedly come back to the site to look for. It's also convenient for more complex searches that involves numerous filters e.g. 'Vendor Assessment' content containing the term 'cybersecurity' published in the last month and with a 'global' remit.
Saved searches can be created at any point from the Search Results page, select the 'Save Search / Set Alert' text in the top right above the results listings.
Saved Search Email Alerts
Saved Searches are a powerful way to create customized Email Alerts so that you can be informed immediately when new content meeting your criteria is published. When setting up a Saved Search, a check box will give you the option to also create an Email Alert for that search criteria. If checked, a reoccurring 'weekly' email will be sent if/when new content is published that meets your search criteria.
The frequency of your email alert (daily, weekly or monthly are available) can be adjusted from the Saved Search page that can be accessed by clicking 'View all' on the dashboard module, alternatively navigate via the 'My Account' menu or click here
If you have numerous email alerts set up to be sent on the same frequency, the results will be consolidated into a single email.
My Products
This module lists out up to five products that you currently own, ordered alphabetically. If you have more than five (the bracketed number in the top right of the module displays how many in total you have set up) then to see your full list click of products then click 'View all' on the top right, you can also navigate to the Product Directory via the 'About' menu in the Omdia header. Alternatively click here.
The Filter gives you the ability to drill into your products by Topic and/or by Product Type (e.g. Intelligence Services focused on Artificial Intelligence).
If you want to review products you do not currently own, this can be done via the Product Directory (filter by 'Products I do not own') or alternatively consider Omdia's personalised Product Recommendations in the right hand column of your Dashboard.
My Bookmarks
This section will list your (up to) five most recently created bookmarks. If you have more than five (the bracketed number in the top right of the module displays how many in total you have set up) then to see or edit the full list click on 'View all' text on the top right, alternatively navigate via the 'My Account' menu in the Omdia header.
Content Recommendations
This module suggests Omdia research (reports and datasets) that you might find interesting. The recommendations are based on your Areas of Interest (which can be reviewed and amended by navigating to Preferences under the My Account menu) and other content you have recently read.
The toggle will switch your recommendations between content you can access in full, and content that you don't currently subscribe to. The 'View All' button opens up a longer list of recommendations.
Product Recommendations
This module suggests Omdia products that you do not currently subscribe to, but might want to consider in the future.
The product recommendations are personalised based on your Areas of Interest (which can be reviewed and amended by navigating to Preferences under the My Account menu) and suitability based on how well they complement your current subscription services.
Omdia Resources
The Omdia Resources section is a handy place to find links to the most up to date version of commonly used reference materials. These are tools to help you navigate and further understand the full Omdia portfolio, including the forthcoming research schedule plus analyst and product directories.
History
This section lists out the titles of the research you most recently viewed. It's designed to be a useful way to retrieve something interesting you may have viewed on a previous visit. We store just the last 10 publications you viewed whilst logged in, and the list is updated on a rolling basis.
Email Alerts
Email alerts are a useful way to keep informed when new Omdia research is published. This section lists your most recently created alerts and their frequency.
Omdia has two alert types available to its registered users:
Product Alerts - email notifications whenever new content is published into a particular product(s)
Saved Search Alerts - email notifications whenever new content is published matching your customized saved search criteria
If you select multiple product or saved search alerts, these will be consolidated into a single email. From the module, select 'Edit all' to amend your alerts, including the frequency at which they are sent (available daily, weekly or monthly). Emails are only sent if new research meeting your criteria is published for example a 'daily' alert will not be triggered on days where there is no new research matching your alert criteria.
Access the Edit Layout Page
The Edit Layout page can be accessed via the link on the top right of your dashboard. When selecting you will be taken to your personal dashboard layout page where you can customise which modules are shown and in what order.
The modules are arranged into two columns which are themed: the left side focused on helping you navigate research that you can access in full (including free research) and the right side focused on helping you navigate the full Omdia portfolio.
Move the Modules
Place the modules you use the most nearer the top for added convenience. Hover over the module and select it by holding down the left-mouse key. Drag it to the desired location.
Note the modules cannot be dragged from one column to the other, just re-ordered within the column where they are located.
Toggle Modules On or Off
The toggle on the right of each module allows you to remove them from your dashboard (and subsequently switch them back on again) so you can focus on the items you use most frequently. Left click on the toggle to switch its status.
All modules can be switched off with the exception of the 'My Research' module. This module must always remain on, but the number of results it displays by default can be adjusted between 5, 10, or 20 publications.
Confirm Changes
Once the dashboard is configured to your preferred state, click 'Apply Changes'. After a few seconds you will see a message confirming your preferences were saved successfully, and you will be automatically taken back to your updated Dashboard page.
If you do not wish to make any changes, click 'Cancel' to return to your unaltered Dashboard page.
