As part of Omdia’s TV research practice, Ismail Patel explores opportunities in the TV segment in Sub-Saharan Africa and the online video segment in the Middle East & Africa. His research includes tracking, forecasting, and modeling TV and over-the-top (OTT) data.
Ismail also covers the switchover from analog to digital, the evolution of traditional and linear to online and on demand, the challenges of piracy, and the strategic positioning of tech companies in the Middle East & Africa. Prior to joining Informa (now Omdia) in 2010, Ismail focused on the broadband, mobile, consumer technology, and Asia Pacific TV and OTT markets. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic law from the University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia and holds a Master of Laws from SOAS University of London.
