In 2019, the Japanese mobile infrastructure (W-CDMA, LTE, and 5G) dropped 12% YoY to $1.9B dragged by slower activity as the 3 major service providers shifted their focus to 5G while patching their 4G footprint. In addition, delays in Rakuten Mobile’s LTE network construction shifted some LTE revenue to 2020. With revenue topping $266M from nothing, the start of 5G was the bright spot.
