UK based major exhibitor, Cineworld, has pulled out of a deal to acquire Cineplex Entertainment, the largest Canadian exhibitor with over 1,700 screens. The deal was reported to be worth $2.3 billion. Cineworld, which also owns Regal, the largest exhibitor in the US, finalised the original deal in December 2019, before the full impact of COVID-19 was known.
