Japan Display Inc. (JDI) announced it will cease production of its LCD panel-producing Gen 4 fab by March 2025. This also means that JDI will stop producing its a-Si TFT LCD panels. Additionally, Toppan and Sharp will also end production of their old-generation a-Si TFT fabs, which have lost their competitiveness to LTPS TFT LCDs for automobile monitors.
