Summary

Reliance Jio Platforms (JPL) is the technology provider for India’s largest 5G operator, Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio has a 4G mobile subscriber base of 435 million. It has close to 60 million 5G subscribers across over 6,000 cities and towns as of August 2023.

JPL started preparing the blueprint of its proprietary telco cloud platform in 2017. At the time, Kubernetes (K8s) had not become a de facto standard for container orchestration. Furthermore, the cloud-native architectures were not fully defined in the standards.
