In on-cell AMOLED displays, the new TDDI technology differs significantly from the self-sensing principle and Vcom blocks found in in-cell TFT LCD displays. Some key differences include the use of the mutual-sensing principle, compatibility specifically with flexible on-cell AMOLEDs, and the use of Tx and receiver Rx sensor electrodes instead of Vcom blocks.

Calvin Hsieh is the leader of Small Medium Display and Touch User Interface, which is a functional team under the larger team of Components & Devices: Displays. He is responsible for managing the team, primary research, and forecasting on the touch display and emerging display-based user interface market, such as fingerprint on display.
Before starting his analyst career with DisplaySearch, Calvin Hsieh had more than a decade of experience crafting strategies and managing product lines at leading display and system organizations across the globe. He joined DisplaySearch as the director for touch panel market and TV electronics in 2007, which was acquired by IHS Markit in 2014. He joined the Omdia from IHS Markit in 2019 and continues to lead the research of emerging display-based user interface including technology, market, and supply chain. Calvin Hsieh has a master's degree with a focus on human–computer interaction and user interface from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan.
