Touch functionality is considered a nice-to-have feature, so it is preferable to keep the bill of materials (BOM) cost lower. The trend of artificial intelligence (AI) PC means that BOM costs are quite constrained for features. As a result, AI-related features, such as RAM, SSD, and sensors, are given higher priority than touch functionality. If coverless designs are accepted, the lower cost could lead to increased adoption of touch functionality.
