The US communications regulator, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has made significant developments over the last few years, including adopting antidiscrimination rules for equal high-speed broadband access, updating national broadband benchmarks, and launching a vital National Spectrum Strategy to efficiently use this scarce resource and foster innovation. In October 2023, the regulator proposed reinstating net neutrality by reclassifying fixed broadband under Title II, aiming to protect consumers, enhance network security, and ensure public safety during emergencies.
