Major movie supply is back on an upward path, helped by the arrival of Amazon into the global theatrical space. Slates in 2025 and 2026 look strong, after the predictably poor 2024. The studios are backing theatrical, with a shorter window, but are also facing challenges from attractive local movies in parts of the world such as South-Eastern Asia. With film production thriving, new franchises seem to be evolving to cater for the tastes of a post-COVID-19 market, and the indie sector is also playing its part.
