Following July’s downturn, signs of weakness are expected to continue when August’s results are reported. Wards Intelligence partner GlobalData expects global light-vehicle sales in August to fall from the year-ago month, dragged down by declines in China and Western Europe. GlobalData’s global light-vehicle forecast for 2024 remains at 88.7 million units, up 2.2% from 2023, but risk to the final five months of the year is weighted more to the downside than upside.
