Most of the to-date strike-related production losses are not likely to be made up over the remainder of the year, even if shutdowns end this month. Most of the currently impacted plants at Ford and GM already were building at or close to available capacity prior to the shutdowns or were ramping up new products. The vehicles built at the Toledo facilities closed at Stellantis had high dealer inventory, and the automaker might choose not to recoup a major portion of the losses.
