With June’s lost sales expected to be recouped in July, this month’s deliveries could surge to a 3-year-high seasonally adjusted annual rate, currently pegged at 16.6 million units. Because of widespread production slowdowns in July due to normal vacation and model-changeover downtime, inventory will decline from June’s 2.82 million units but will total the highest for the month since 2019.
