The Peruvian telecom regulator—Organismo Supervisor de Inversión Privada en Telecomunicaciones (Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications), or Osiptel—and the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) have been active in introducing several initiatives and regulations over the last few years. Their primary focus continues to be on improving broadband coverage, deployment of 5G, strengthening data security, preventing fraud related to stolen cell phones, and safeguarding consumer interests.
