United Group, the largest telecom and pay TV operator in the countries of former Yugoslavia, has acquired 36% of shares and the management of Greek telco Forthnet. The deal was finalised at the end of May 2020 following an agreement between United and a consortium of Greek banks, in reference to the servicing of Forthnet’ corporate debt. According to reports in the Greek media, the amount invested by United Group is 45€ million. United Group is, since 2019, owned by the London-based investment fund BC Partners. The deal is awaiting approval from Greek and EU regulatory authorities.
