This edition of Omdia's yearly look at TV and online production profiles the 20 largest producers by annual revenue, looks at merger and acquisition activity in the sector, the lingering effects of the COVID pandemic, and the contribution of streaming to commissioning spend. 

After a year of disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TV production activity returned to growth in 2021 with all but two of the top-20 TV production groups by revenue reporting year-over-year (YoY) growth. M&A activity has stepped up in the last two years with French companies such as Banijay Group at the fore and private equity investment beginning to make an impact in the sector. The continuing appetite of streamers for original content is still the main driver of growth in the TV production sector.
