Unity radically reshapes its business model

On September 12, Unity, the world’s leading game engine, announced a radical change to its business model. From January 1, 2024, it will now, in addition to existing fees, charge customers a new “runtime fee” every time a game built in Unity is installed on a user device. The new fee will apply to existing customers, and to Unity games already on the market.
