Chris is a senior analyst who covers China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market, which consists of battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel-cell vehicles, with an emphasis on battery technologies and the NEV ecosystem. Chris primarily researches national policies that drive the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure deployment. His work serves two goals: catalyzing the transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs and disseminating China’s vehicle electrification lessons to the global market.
Chris began his career as a transportation analyst for Washington-based Energetics, focusing on consulting projects related to transportation electrification. He assisted electric utilities in the US to understand and prepare to adopt EVs in their service territories; his clients included the Department of Energy, suppliers, and national laboratories. Before joining Omdia, Chris worked on an electrification strategy for a domestic OEM in China, where he advised on strategies for batteries, EV charging, and other aspects of NEV product development. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from the University of Richmond and a Master of Environmental Management specializing in energy from Duke University.
