LONDON, January 13, 2026: According to Omdia’s large-area display market tacker (4Q25), large-area display unit shipments (including LCD and OLED) reached 910.5 million in 2025, Despite ongoing global economic uncertainty and the introduction of new US tariff policies, large-area display shipments grew 2.9% year-over-year (YoY) in 2025 based on Omdia’s latest forecast. However, shipment growth in 2025 was slower than in 2024, when shipments increased 9.0% YoY.
Peter Su, Senior Principal Analyst in Omdia’s Display research practice, commented, "Based on Omdia’s estimates, large-area LCD unit shipments are estimated to have increased 2.6% YoY reaching 876.8 million in 2025. Some panel makers, particularly Korean and Japanese suppliers, reduced their focus on LCD TV display productions during 2025 as part of ongoing business restructuring efforts.
“Panel makers outside China also scaled back monitor LCD production amid intense competition, particularly pricing pressure from Chinese panel makers. Shipments in the ‘Others’ and Public Information Display (PID) categories are estimated to have declined in 2025, as many system integrators and lower-tier makers are based in mainland China and had limited flexibility to relocate production in response to US tariff issues. Ongoing global economic uncertainty weighed on demand for Others and PID displays during the year,”
Meanwhile, large-area OLED unit shipments are estimated to have increased 12.9% YoY, reaching approximately 33.7 million in 2025, according to Omdia’s latest preliminary data. OLED shipments for monitors and notebook PCs are estimated to have grown 69.3% YoY and 26.8% YoY, respectively, in 2025. By contrast, OLED TV display shipments are estimated to have grown by only 1.5% YoY over the same period.
Korean OLED makers continued to shift their strategic focus from OLED TV displays toward monitor OLEDs, which offer stronger financial returns. OLED makers also their emphasis on notebook PC OLEDs ahead of the planned ramp up of new Gen 8.6 IT OLED fabs from 2026 particularly Samsung Display and BOE, as they sought to expand their OLED business volumes during 2025.
In terms of supplier positioning, BOE is estimated to have led large-area LCD unit shipments with a 36.2%, followed by China Star at 16.4% and Innolux at 11.7% in 2025. For large-area OLED unit shipments, Samsung Display is estimated to have maintained the largest share at 50.9%, followed by LG Display at 31.8% and EDO at 14.8%.
Across total large-area display unit shipments, BOE is expected to have ranked first with a 35.0% share, followed by China Star at 15.8% and Innolux at 11.3% in 2025.
