Summary

After more than four years in operation, Netflix’s games offering has delivered less than a 0.5% increase in the streamer’s “North Star” metric, time spent, according to Omdia analysis (see Figure 1). In March, the company provided an update on its gaming strategy, focused on reducing variety and targeting four key genres: mainstream, narrative, kids, and party. While needed, Omdia believes this strategic narrowing will at best enable Netflix to carve out new niches, not transform gaming.
